The Walk
From the west shore of Lake Merritt — Lakeside Drive near the Bellevue Club or the bandstand pergola — head west on 14th Street toward Broadway, then south one block to 15th. Sessions is mid-block, between Franklin and Webster. Six minutes on a dry evening. Seven if you came from the Adams Point side and took Grand to Harrison to 14th.
Lake Merritt is mostly a daytime place — the joggers, the dog walkers, the kayaks on weekends, the brunch spots that close at 3pm. We’re the version of the night that picks up where the lake leaves off. Walk over after dinner. Walk over instead of dinner. Either way, the room is set up for it.
What you’re walking into
Sessions is a cocktail lounge built around an audiophile sound system — the “listening bar” tradition out of Tokyo, brought into a Downtown Oakland room on 15th Street. About twenty cocktails on the list at any given time: classic specs done with care, fresh citrus, California spirits, mezcal we’ll talk you through. Curated music programming Thursday through Saturday with resident DJs and Bay Area guests, plus a recurring Sessions Sundays daytime series.
That makes us a different room from the bars closer to the lake — the Snail Bar / Lost & Found / Friends and Family side of the neighborhood. Each of those has its own thing and we send people there when it’s right. Sessions is the room for a stirred drink, a careful set of records, and a conversation you can actually hear — the evening room when you want to walk a little farther than your block.
