The Walk
From the Fox Theater entrance at 1807 Telegraph Avenue, head north on Telegraph two blocks to 19th Street. Hang right on 19th, walk one block to Broadway, then south one block to 15th. Sessions is mid-block, between Franklin and Webster. Four minutes on dry pavement, five if you stop to look at the marquee.
Pre-show, the room is quieter — sitting at the bar, a stirred Negroni, time to talk before the lights drop. Post-show, the room is louder and longer. We’re open until 2am Friday and Saturday, midnight on Thursday and Sunday, which catches just about any Fox show that runs past 11.
What you’re walking into
Sessions is a cocktail lounge built around an audiophile sound system — what they call a “listening bar” in Tokyo, where the tradition started. The drinks list runs about twenty cocktails, classics done right, fresh citrus, real ice. House syrups, California spirits where the bottle deserves it, mezcal we’ll talk you through if you’re curious. Early in the night, vinyl. After 9 or so, DJs. Either way, the room is tuned for the music.
That makes us a different room from most of the cocktail bars near Fox Theater. If you want a sports bar, there are good ones. If you want a wine bar, ditto. Sessions is the room for a stirred drink, a careful set of records, and a conversation you can actually hear.
