Sessions on 15th is named for what happens here. A session is a gathering, a stretch of time set aside for something good. It’s the moment a track shifts the mood and someone you’ve never met turns to you with a story. We’re a craft cocktail bar on 15th Street — five minutes from Fox Theater, Paramount Theatre, and a short walk from Lake Merritt, built around a hi-fi sound system in the listening-bar tradition.
We believe music makes you feel good. We believe that when music plays while we’re together, it becomes part of the fabric that binds us, a shared frequency we can all sit inside for a few hours. Add a thoughtful cocktail. Add a room built with this in mind. That’s what we mean by Sessions.

A listening bar is an audiophile cocktail bar where the room is built around the music — a high-quality sound system, treated acoustics, and curated playback (vinyl earlier in the night, DJs later). The concept originated in 1950s Tokyo and has grown across US cities over the past decade. Sessions on 15th is Downtown Oakland's listening bar — designed around the sound, the cocktail program, and an intimate room.
Where is Sessions on 15th located?
Sessions on 15th is at 406 15th Street in Downtown Oakland, between Broadway and Telegraph Avenue. We are a 5-minute walk from the 19th Street BART station and roughly equidistant to Fox Theater and Paramount Theatre — about 4–5 minutes to each on foot.
Are you near Fox Theater or Paramount Theatre?
Yes — Sessions on 15th is one of the closest cocktail lounges to both Fox Theater (1807 Telegraph Ave) and Paramount Theatre (2025 Broadway). Walking time is 4–5 minutes to either venue. We are open for pre-show drinks Thursday through Sunday and accept reservations for parties.
Do you take reservations?
Walk-ins are welcome at the bar. We accept reservations for tables and parties of 6 or more — book through our reservations page or call us directly. For private buyouts of the full room (up to 50 guests), inquire via the private events page.

Sessions Sundays is our recurring Sunday-afternoon listening series — a slower, daytime version of the room. A resident or guest selector plays start-to-finish sets on vinyl while the room functions as a quieter cocktail lounge. Programming is announced on Instagram each week.
